Contender Forends with "Pillar Bed" inletting for best accuracy.
Bellm TCs now offering forends made by one of our associates, SHOTS, here in Grants Pass, OR.
Very nicely machined with no final fitting required. Barrel channels are cut for "float" clearance and "Pillar Bed" inletted for contact only around the forend screws.
Pillar contact only at the screws provides for a more even contact that does not change from shot to shot as the barrel changes temperature, as is the problem when the wood and metal make contact at random points in the barrel channel.
Time and experience have shown that just strapping a forend onto the barrel often produces poor accuracy. The traditional bedding bar method used by some shops is an improvement, but has not proven as consistent as pillar bedding.
Instead of aluminum pillars epoxied into the forend that have proven quite reliable for accuracy, SHOTS is relieving the barrel channel except at the screws.
